Sick and behind

Some sketches to make up for the last three days of this month's art challenge. Been sick the last couple of days but at least I think I'm getting better. Excited for next month!

Not much progress... But something

June 28th 2012. The Dragon Priest (WIP)

Lately I've been practicing drawing without lines.  I just splat in color blobs and shape them with either other colors or the eraser tool.  This frees my mind from having to "draw" something and it becomes more of creating a balance of the spots I got in the screen.  Then with either a different color or the eraser I can go in and just shape things, basically cleaning up edges or creating paths where the background shows or light hits etc.  This has helped me immensely to just attack the drawing without wasting time in the idea.  Saved tons of time on this one by just not thinking about what is going on and letting the brush created the mood and the scenario.  Why is the dude in a weird robe thing?  Don't know!  Looked cool, so it's there.  Same thing for the dragon thing, it's just what it is.  I'm hoping with time I can go back and forth with more ease and the outcome will be much more cohesive.  Till then I'll continue practicing with this style of approach because it does help me relax and I am not anxious to see what's in my head into paper but rather create what's in the paper into something inside my head.  So in a way, I don't get ahead of myself, and the art doesn't have to suffer for my lack of patience.

Makes sense?  Probably not!  This is a WIP so I'll go back to it someday and expand the values and shapes a bit more, after all it is sort of a interesting thing going on.  Whatever it is.  I like the freedom in which this piece was born, like Brave Heart, but in a picture.

June 28th, 2012. American Psycho and the return of the missing participant

So I've missed tons of posts.  My apologies, I will upload the backdraft asap.  For tonight, I have a  poster rendition of a movie I am currently in the process of watching.  American Psycho.  What a crazy movie!  The dude bites a chick then throws a chainsaw..  what am I doing, go watch the movie, it's insane.  Anyways, I did this quick sketch halfway through the film, there's like 20 mins left, so gotta watch the rest and then post the back draft.

I won't be missing any more posts, this challenge is important to hone the art skills, and missing posts doesn't help for that at all.

Again, sorry for the missing dates.

Go watch that movie, it's crazy!

nutty blubbers

Made palette using Kirk's palette swiping technique and this image : http://cghub.com/images/view/234255/. Also added some blue color to a gray background, which was a nice contrast.

its aliveeeeee

finger painting on ipad and it came out ok! I think, though, that making a huge blobby guy whilst finger painting is not such a victory...

Sun in Cancer is always a hard time for me...

I better go back to photo studies for now until it passes. Damn you manic depression (and you too, Jimi Hendrix)

finally not behind!

and not sick!
whoo

sleepy dog and power tools

I was sick today, and started feeling better these last couple hours, so I tired to work on this more. I think I've lost interest (I usually do skip around drawings, and I was trying not to). So, I'll move on.
